Finger prostheses may extend to the base of the finger (the metacarpophylangeal joint) or may be shorter in order to leave more of the remaining finger free for natural flexion. Many patients choose to wear a ring to help disguise the prosthesis margin. Most finger prostheses are retained by suction (adhesives are usually not necessary.) Nails can be made in silicone or acrylic. Your anaplastologist will discuss with you all options for your specific case.
